Men's Tennis Falls in Dual Opener at Northwestern



EVANSTON, Ill.- The DePaul men’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 56 Northwestern on Friday at the Northwestern Tennis CenterJack Komar posted the Blue Demons’ sole point in the first dual of the season.

 

Komar’s 6-4, 7-6 victory over Northwestern’s Alexey Evstratenkov at No. 6 came too late for DePaul, as the Wildcats had already claimed the first six singles matches.

 

In doubles action, Danny Wilson and Vanja Grgec posted an 8-3 win to defeat Northwestern’s Alex Sanborn and Alexey Evstratenkov at No. 3.  The Wildcats had already taken the first two doubles matches and the point, as Jose Moncada and Austin Doerner fell 8-2 to the nation’s 27th-ranked duo of Willy Lock and Matt Christian before George Wang and Alasdair Graetz lost 8-5 to Christian Tempke and Juan Gomez.

 

The Blue Demons return to action this Sunday as they face Ball State at noon (CST) in Muncie, Indiana.
