CHICAGO -- The DePaul men's tennis team opens up its dual season on Friday evening at home against UIC.

The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

The Blue Demons posted 45 singles wins during the fall season, led by Filip Dzanko's 10-4 mark. In addition, Dzanko went 11-3 with teammate David Vieyra in doubles play; the duo came into the fall season ranked No. 46 in the nation.

Overall, DePaul went 45-42 in singles play and 24-17 in doubles matches this fall.

The Blue Demons are looking to improve coming off a six-win season a year ago. One of the six victories was against UIC in last season's opener on Jan. 12, 2013. DePaul beat the Flames, 5-2, and were led by Dzanko's win in the No. 1 singles slot. Sten Leusink and Jan-Willem Feilzer also posted singles victories that day. The Blue Demons took the doubles point, 2-1, thanks to wins by Feilzer and Leusink in the No. 2 slot and Adam Reinhart and Kyle Johnson in the No. 3 match.

DePaul carries nine players on its 2013-14 roster, six of which were on last year's squad. In addition, head coach Matt Brothers brought in three newcomers for the season, including freshman Tim Corwin, who won seven singles matches in the fall, and fellow rookie Joshua Schramm, who will be making his Blue Demon debut on Friday. The final newcomer is Vieyra, a junior who began his career at the University of Alabama.

The UIC match is the first of two home matches to open up the dual season. DePaul hosts Green Bay at 3 p.m. next Saturday (Jan. 25).
