Men's Tennis Cruises Past Northern Illinois
CHICAGO -- The No. 74 DePaul men's tennis team improved to 3-0 on the season with a dominating 6-1 victory over Northern Illinois on Friday at the Lakeshore Athletic Club.
Alasdair Graetz and Douglas Perrin clinched the doubles point by topping Max Phillips and Greg Czajkowski 8-4; while Matija Palinic and Mathias Hambach closed out doubles action with an 8-5 win over Mikhail Titov and Javier Bernabe.
In singles play, the Blue Demons won five matches while Vanja Grgec clinched the dual victory by handing Titov a 6-1, 6-1 loss. Prior to Grgec's finish, Hambach played a perfect match and conquered Czajkowski 6-0, 6-0 while Jozwiak topped Phillips 6-1, 6-4.
Palinic improved to 13-5 this season by winning his fourth straight match, a 6-4, 6-3 win over Turtygin. Hartman won the final match of the dual by defeating Bernabe 6-0, 6-3.
The Blue Demons return to action on Sunday at Western Michigan. The dual commences at noon at the West Hills Athletic Club.
