Men's Tennis Remains Undefeated After Facing UTA
ARLINGTON, Texas The DePaul men’s tennis team remains undefeated after going up against the University of Texas-Arlington. The Blue Demons improve to 4-0 after defeating the Mavericks, 5-2. Finishing first at No. 1 double, Austin Doerner and Ben Hartman defeated Brieuc Hamon, 8-6. Clinching the doubles point for the Blue Demons was Jose Moncada and Matija Palinic, who beat David Subirats and Gonzalo Biensobas, 8-6. Despite adverse weather conditions, DePaul continued to forge through singles action, winning four of the six matches to earn the team victory. Starting out at No. 1 singles, Doerner won his match against Hamon, 7-6. 6-0. Moncada to a 2-0 dual singles record after defeating Dmitry Minkin, 3-6, 6-2, 6-0. Hartman’s six-match winning streak came to a close, after loosing to Mindaugas Celedinas, 6-2, 7-6. With a team score of 3-1, the Blue Demons needed just one win to secure the victory. Both Alasdair Graetz, and Bartosz Jowiak rebounded from their doubles loss earlier to win their respective matches. "I thought we really fought hard, despite the change in weather," noted head coach Matt Brothers, "The guys stayed focused and came away with the win against a team who is used to playing in these conditions. I'm very pleased with how we played today" The Blue Demons return to action on Sunday, when they face No. 43-ranked Southern Methodist University. DePaul-5, UTA-2 Singles:
