Men's Tennis Struggles at Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The No. 71 DePaul men’s tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 56 Western Michigan on Sunday.  Jose Moncada and Jack Komar posted the Blue Demons’ two points with a pair of singles wins at the West Hills Athletic Club.


Moncada defeated Alex Birchmeier by a score of 6-3, 6-1 in the third singles match.  The sixth flight saw Komar take Bryan Norvile in three sets; 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.


Danny Wilson and Vanja Grgec gave DePaul its only doubles win at No. 3, as the duo posted an 8-7 victory over John Pelton and Alejandro Staub.  Austin Doerner and Moncada fell, 8-1, to Brady Crosby and Tim Bradshaw at No. 1, while George Wang and Alasdair Graetz dropped an 8-2 match to Norville and Birchmeier in the second flight.


DePaul (4-2) travels to Marquette on Saturday, February 10 for its first BIG EAST dual of the season.  The Blue Demons and the Golden Eagles meet at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium for a noon dual.
