Men's Tennis Rebounds Against Green Bay
CHICAGO - The DePaul men's team closed out its day with a 7-0 win over Green Bay on Saturday at the Lakeshore Athletic Club. The Blue Demons dropped a heartbreaking 4-3 dual to Illinois State earlier in the day. DePaul sailed through the dual as the Blue Demons recorded their second shutout victory of the young dual season and improve to 4-5 on the season, while Green Bay falls to 2-3 Mathias Hambach and Vanja Grgec got things going with a dominating 8-3 win over Henning Hess and Mike Wesley before Ben Hartman and Bartosz Jozwiak clinched the doubles point with an 8-6 win over Matt Clegg and Fabian Gogolin. In singles play, the Blue Demons won all of their matches in straight sets. Hambach was the first to finish as he overpowered Mako Skoric 6-0, 6-1 on court No. 5. Alasdair Graetz was the next to finish and topped Gogolin 6-3, 7-5 in the No. 3 spot. Playing at No. 6, Grgec clinched the match for the Blue Demons with a convincing 6-1, 6-4 win over Oothouft. With the match won, Matija Palinic was the next to finish as the sophomore topped Paul Swanson for his 15th victory of the season. Like good doubles partners, Jozwiak and Hartman closed out singles action at the same time. Jozwiak topped Matt Clegg at No. 1, 6-2, 6-4 and Hartman defeated Jess 6-0, 7-6 (5). The Blue Demons return to action next weekend at the corner of Lakewood and Fullerton when No. 57 Middle Tennessee State comes to Chicago for a Valentine's Day dual.
