Men's Tennis Splits A Pair
CHICAGO - DePaul's men's tennis team came up with a big win over Xavier on Saturday, beating their opponents 6-1. Sam Davidson beat Brad Meadors 6-3, 7-5 while Robert Kotroczo controlled his opponent, Ryan Potts, the entire match and finished him pff after only giving him 1 game (6-1, 6-0). Eric Huffman also saw success in the singles round after beating Rusin Reys 7-5, 7-5. Andy Michael cleaned up against Matt Thinnes in the No. 1 spot 7-6, 6-3. DePaul won two out of the three doubles matches. Kotroczo and Davidson paired up to beat Rob Simpson and Thinnes of Xavier 8-4 in the No. 2 spot. In first doubles, Michaels and Will Wong beat Meadors and Thinnes 9-8. The Blue Demons also lost on Saturday as they handed Michigan State their eighth win of the season. The Spartans won every set of the day, sweeping DePaul with ease. Andy Michael and Robert Kotroczo came close to a win in first and second singles as they were defeated 6-4, 6-4 in each set. The Blue Demons will try to redeem themselves against Nebraska, Drake and Denver next weekend. DePaul 6, Xavier 1 Doubles DePaul 0, Michigan State 7
