Men's Tennis Cruises Past Texas-San Antonio



LINCOLN, Neb. The DePaul men’s tennis team earned a 6-1 neutral-court victory over Texas-San Antonio on Sunday.  The Blue Demons took the doubles point and five singles matches from the Roadrunners at the Nebraska Tennis Center.

The top doubles match saw juniors Austin Doerner and Jose Moncada notch an 8-4 win over Adam Becker and Rodrigo Morgado.  DePaul’s No. 1 duo improves to 3-3 in spring doubles competition.  Sophomore Alasdair Graetz and freshman Adam Williams suffered an 8-4 loss to Robin Fernandes and Max Stratmann at No. 2 doubles, but the Blue Demons won the doubles point as UTSA defaulted the No. 3 match.

Moncada improved his No. 1 singles record to 4-0 with a 7-6, 7-5 (2) win over Fernandes in the top match.  Graetz rolled past Morgado, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 2 singles and sophomore Vanja Grgec topped Stratmann, 6-3, 6-4, in the No. 3 match.  Freshman Ben Hartman raised his dual-season singles record to a perfect 10-0 with a 4-6, 7-5, 10-4 win over Daniel Moreiras at No. 5. 

Playing shorthanded, UTSA (1-6) was forced to default at No. 6 singles.

The Blue Demons (6-4) return to action on Saturday, February 23 with an 11 a.m. (CST) dual against No. 50 Drake in Des Moines, Iowa.
