Men's Tennis Takes Three-Day Road Trip
CHICAGO – The men’s tennis team will spend time on the road this weekend as they look to break a losing streak and boost a 2-9 record.
Last weekend, the Blue Demons looked for leadership from Robert Kotroczo whose prowess captured singles wins over Nebraska and Drake and also earned him a doubles win with Sam Davidson over Denver.
Kotroczo and the Blue Demons will look for similar victories this weekend as they face three primed teams.
On Thursday, the Blue Demons will head up to Evanston to play cross-town rival Northwestern at the Combe Tennis Center. The Wildcats are currently ranked No. 41 and are 5-2 in their spring season. Sophomore Tommy Hanus has sparked Northwestern’s play as he has won five straight singles matches.
DePaul then heads to Peoria, Ill. to face Bradley who was just picked seventh in the Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Tennis Coaches Poll. The Braves have a young roster as seven of their eight are underclassmen. Bradley is 0-4 this spring and is coming off a 5-2 loss to Saint Louis last weekend.
On Sunday, the Blue Demons will stay in Peoria where they will match up against Illinois State on neutral courts. The Redbirds current record is 2-3. After winning earlier in the season with victories over Eastern Illinois, 7-0, and Saint Louis, 6-1, the Redbirds have fallen into a slump as they will enter into the weekend on a three-game losing streak.
