The Blue Demon sophomore is just the second men's tennis player to earn the weekly honor

CHICAGO – DePaul sophomore standout, Filip Dzanko was named the BIG EAST Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week it was announced on Tuesday by the league office. Dzanko plays in the top singles and doubles position for the Blue Demons.
Dzanko earned his first career weekly honor after winning his 12th consecutive singles match last week.
Playing in the No. 1 singles spot, Dzanko dominated No. 89 Jadon Phillips, 6-4 6-4. During the sophomore impressive winning streak, he has defeated two ranked opponents and has won 10 of those 12 matches in straight sets.
Dzanko picked up his second win last week on the doubles court with his partner George Chanturia. The Blue Demon duo helped DePaul win the doubles point with their 8-6 victory over New Mexico’s top pair.
Dzanko becomes just the second DePaul men’s tennis player to earn the BIG EAST Men’s Tennis Player of the Week award. He follows Sven Kasper, who won the award last year, on Mar. 2.
Heading into DePaul’s weekend matches against Illinois State and Green Bay, Dzanko has posted an 11-0 dual singles record and is 7-0 in the No. 1 singles slot.
