Men's Tennis Falls at Drake



DES MOINES, Iowa – The No. 69 DePaul men’s tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to Drake on Sunday at the Drake Tennis CenterJose Moncada gave the Blue Demons their only point of the dual with a singles win.

 

Moncada opened the No. 3 singles match against Dalibor Pavic with a 7-6 victory in the first set.  Pavic fought back to win the second set, 6-3, before Moncada took the tiebreaker, 10-6.

 

Doubles action saw George Wang and Alasdair Graetz defeat Guilherme Marsiglia and Halvar Dil, 8-4, in the second match, but the Bulldogs narrowly won the other two flights.  Austin Doerner and Moncada lost 9-7 to Maor Zirkin and Pavic at No. 1, while Vanja Grgec and Danny Wilson suffered a 9-8 defeat to Ivan Mendoza and Sergi Vila in the third match.

 

The Blue Demons (7-5, 1-0 BIG EAST) return to action this Wednesday with a noon match at No. 63 Indiana.
