Men's Tennis Faces Indiana State, Connecticut and Iowa
CHICAGO The DePaul men’s tennis team welcomes Indiana State and BIG EAST Conference rival Connecticut to the Lakeshore Athletic Club this weekend before traveling to Iowa for a road dual. The Blue Demons host the Sycamores on Friday at 6 p.m. (CST) and the Huskies on Saturday at noon before they head to Iowa City, Iowa for a 3 p.m. first serve with the No. 66 Hawkeyes. DePaul (6-5, 1-0 BIG EAST) enters the weekend after suffering a 5-2 road loss to No. 52 Drake last Saturday. Sophomore Vanja Grgec and freshman Bartosz Jozwiak gave the Blue Demons a pair of singles victories against the Bulldogs. Grgec is currently 7-1 this spring when playing at No. 3 singles, while Jozwiak holds a dual-season singles record of 9-2. Junior Jose Moncada carries a record of 4-1 when playing at No. 1 singles this season and sophomore Alasdair Graetz is a perfect 4-0 in the No. 2 singles match. Saturday saw freshman Ben Hartman take his first loss of the dual campaign as his spring record fell to 10-1. Indiana State (3-6) enters Friday’s dual after falling, 5-2, at Ball State last Sunday, while Connecticut (1-2) comes off last Saturday’s 4-3 victory at Lehigh. Iowa (5-2) took a 5-2 loss at Drake on Wednesday. The 2007 season saw DePaul post victories over Connecticut and Indiana State after suffering a loss at Iowa. The Blue Demons swept the Huskies, 6-0, on April 13 and topped the Sycamores, 4-2, on March 30. The Hawkeyes edged DePaul, 5-2, on February 16.
