Men's Tennis Falls to No. 23 BYU
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- The DePaul men's tennis team dropped a 4-0 match to No. 23 BYU in the nightcap of the HEB Team Tournament on Friday. The Blue Demons defeated tournament host Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 4-3 earlier today.
Playing the singles portion of the dual first, DePaul was unable to find a rhythm as the 23-ranked Cougars were firing on all cylinders.
BYU won the fourth, third and second and sixth matches to clinch the victory.
Playing against Thomas Shubert, Bartosz Jozwiak pushed the Cougars' number one player to the brink. Shubert squeaked out the first set 7-6 and Jozwiak was up 2-1 in the second set when BYU clinched the dual.
The Blue Demons play Western Michigan on Saturday at 9 a.m. WMU won the season's earlier meeting 5-2 in Kalamazoo on Jan. 24.
