Men's Tennis Plays Host to Buffalo
CHICAGO The DePaul men’s tennis team stays home this weekend as Buffalo visits Lakeshore Athletic Club for a Friday dual. The Blue Demons challenge the Bulls at 6 p.m. (CST). DePaul (8-6, 2-0 BIG EAST) enters the dual having won two of its last three matches. Last weekend saw the Blue Demons post a 5-2 victory over Indiana State on Friday before they swept BIG EAST Conference rival Connecticut, 7-0, on Saturday. DePaul took a 6-1 road loss at No. 66 Iowa on Sunday. Through 14 spring matches, junior Jose Moncada carries a singles record of 9-5 with four victories in the No. 1 spot, freshman Bartosz Jozwiak is 11-3 in dual-season singles play, and freshman Ben Hartman holds a singles record of 13-1. Junior Austin Doerner and sophomore Alasdair Graetz teamed last weekend for a pair of wins at No. 1 doubles, while Moncada and Jozwiak gave DePaul three victories in the No. 2 doubles match. Buffalo (3-7, 0-1 MAC) split a pair of duals last weekend with a 7-0 shutout over Manhattan on Friday and a 6-1 loss to Toledo on Saturday. The Bulls have never faced the Blue Demons. DePaul has not lost to an unranked team since January 19, when Michigan State edged the Blue Demons, 3-4. The Spartans are currently ranked No. 66 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll.
