Men's Tennis Picks Up a Win at Michigan State



EAST LANSING, Mich. – The No. 74 DePaul men’s tennis team won its fourth consecutive dual on Saturday with a 5-2 road victory at Michigan State.  The Blue Demons earned the doubles point before taking four singles matches from the Spartans at the MSU Tennis Center.

 

The second doubles flight saw DePaul’s George Wang and Alasdair Graetz earn a hard-fought 9-8 (7-5) decision over Adam Monich and John Allare.  The victory improves Wang and Graetz to 13-3 in doubles action.

 

Danny Wilson and Vanja Grgec gave the Blue Demons a doubles win as they rolled past Tyler Sauerbrey and Britton Steele, 8-3, in the third match.  DePaul’s No. 3 duo is now 11-5 in dual season doubles play.

 

Jose Moncada delivered the Blue Demons’ first singles point as he defeated Allare, 6-4, 6-4, in the third flight.  Grgec earned a three-set, 3-6, 6-0, 6-4, victory over Michael Flowers in the fourth match.  Graetz also won in three sets, defeating Jason Norville, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, at No. 5 singles. 

 

Jack Komar picked up his fourth consecutive singles win with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Scott Rasmussen in the sixth flight.

 

The Blue Demons (11-5, 1-0 BIG EAST) are now 2-2 against Big Ten opponents this season.  DePaul returns to action on Friday, March 30 with a 2 p.m. (CST) dual at Indiana State.
