Blue Demons Top Southeastern Louisiana
SAN ANTONIO, Texas The DePaul men’s tennis team earned their third-straight win after defeating Southeastern Louisiana, 5-2. The Blue Demons improved to 13-5, overall, while the Lions fall to 6-7. In the race for the doubles point, wins were posted in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots to give DePaul the point. Jose Moncada and Alasdair Graetz beat Alexis Biarneiz and Julien Russel, 8-2, while Bartosz Jozwiak and Vanja Grgec clinched the point with their 8-6 win over Jan Bezdecka and Guilaume Capovin. The No. 69-ranked doubles tandem of Austin Doerner and Ben Hartman suffered just their third loss of the season in the top match. The Blue Demons went up to a commanding 3-0 lead after singles wins were recorded by Doerner and Moncada. In the No. 2 singles match, Moncada defeated Damien Cordoba, 6-1, 6-3, to improve to an overall record of 21-7. Doerner picked up his ninth win in the top match after overcoming Stepan Siska, 6-3, 6-2. His overall record now stands at 16-11. Hartman clinched the match for the team after his win in the No. 4 singles slot. He triumphed over Guilaume Capovin with a score of 6-2, 6-3. Jozwiak registered the final Blue Demon victory of the day, beating Bezdecka, 6-0, 6-4. Graetz and Grgec both lost in three sets.
