Men's Tennis Lose to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 4-2
SAN ANTONIO, Texas Despite wins from Austin Doerner and Jose Moncada, the DePaul men’s tennis team lost to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 4-2. The Blue Demons fall to 13-6 while the Islanders improve to 6-7. Doerner, who has been carrying the majority of the No. 1 match responsibilities this season, earned his 17th victory after beating Mikhail Pavlov, 6-4, 7-6 (5). In No. 2 singles, Moncada defeated Dmitry Novikov, 6-2, 6-1. The senior is 12-2 when playing No. 2 spot and is 22-7 overall. After narrowly losing the first set in a tiebreaker, Ben Hartman bowed out to Jose Zunino, 6-1 in the second set. Alasdiar Gratez also fell in two sets to Laurent Montoisy, 6-2, 6-2. At No. 5 singles, Bartosz Jozwiak lost to Jaume Farras, 7-5, 6-3, and Vanja Grgec was defeated by James Langford, 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 6 singles slot. Doubles play was suspended due to inclement weather. The Blue Demons return to action tomorrow when they face Texas-San Antonio at 2 p.m. (CST) March 25, 2009 Order of finish: (3, 6, 2, 4, 1, 5*)
