Men's Tennis Cruises Past Toledo



INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The No. 75 DePaul men’s tennis team extended its winning streak to six duals on Saturday with a 6-1 neutral-court victory over Toledo.  The Blue Demons took the doubles point before winning five singles matches.

 

DePaul opened the day by defeating the Rockets in two of three doubles matches.  Jose Moncada and Austin Doerner rolled past Travis Curran and Brian Rager, 8-1, in the top flight.  George Wang and Alasdair Graetz posted an 8-4 victory over brothers Jay and Jared Miller in the second match.  Vanja Grgec and Danny Wilson dropped a close 8-7 decision to Chris Clark and Josh Moran at No. 3 doubles.

 

Wang gave the Blue Demons a three-set victory at No. 1 singles as he defeated Miller, 7-6, 6-7, 11-9.  Doerner picked up a 6-2, 7-6 win over Clark in the second match.

 

The Blue Demons posted a pair of comeback victories in the fourth and fifth singles flights.  After falling in his first set, Graetz fought back for a 6-7, 6-1, 7-6 win over Tyler Sonkin in the No. 4 match.  The fifth match saw Grgec defeat Curran, 5-7, 7-6, 10-3.

 

Jack Komar rolled past Rager, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 6 singles.  The DePaul senior is now 12-3 this season when playing the sixth match.

 

The Blue Demons (13-5, 1-0 BIG EAST) extend their stay in Indianapolis to play a 9 a.m. (CST) Sunday match at Butler.
