Ind. – The No. 75 DePaul men’s tennis team won its seventh consecutive dual on Sunday with a 6-1 victory at
Butler. The Blue Demons earned the doubles point before taking five singles matches from the Bulldogs at the Butler Bubble.
DePaul opened the dual by defeating Butler in two of three doubles matches. Jose Moncada and Austin Doerner posted an 8-5 victory over Eric Breitenbach and Sandy Berry in the top match, while Vanja Grgec and Danny Wilson defeated Evan West and Scott Newmark, 8-2, at No. 3 doubles. George Wang and Alasdair Graetz fell, 8-1, to James Low and Ben Raynauld in the second flight.
Doerner gave the Blue Demons a 6-5, 6-1 victory over Breitenbach at No. 2 singles and Moncada defeated West, 6-2, 6-4 in the third flight. Graetz topped Raynauld, 6-3, 7-6 (5), in the fourth match, while Grgec earned a three-set, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, win over Berry at No. 5 singles. Jack Komar topped Newmark, 6-4, 6-1, in the sixth flight.
DePaul (14-5, 1-0 BIG EAST) returns to action this Thursday with a 2 p.m. dual at Chicago State.
