DePaul Plays at UT-Arlington and SMU this Weekend
CHICAGO - The DePaul men's tennis team looks to snap its five match skid this weekend in Texas. The Blue Demons are scheduled to play at UT-Arlington at 11 a.m. on Saturday and SMU at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
DePaul (6-14) is in the middle of a 13-match road trip which has taken the Blue Demons to three different states, while the team is making its second trip to Texas. In DePaul's first trip, to the Lone Star state, the Blue Demons went 1-3 with a win over Texas A&M CC.
The Blue Demons have already faced seven ranked opponents during their 13-match road trip while the team has tangled with 11 this season.
Mathias Hambach is looking for his 20th singles victory on the season. The freshman went 10-4 during tournament play while Hambach is 9-11 in dual action this season. Matija Palinic and Vanja Grgec follow with 16 and 15 wins, respectively.
In doubles action, Ben Hartman and Bartosz Jozwiak lead the team with an 18-10 record, while Hambach and Grgec are 11-9.
On Saturday, the Blue Demons will face UT-Arlington for the second consecutive season. In 2009, DePaul topped the Mavericks 5-2. SMU was also on the Blue Demons' slate in 2009 and the then-No. 43 Mustangs suffered the same feat as the Mavericks, a 5-2 loss.
