Men's Tennis Closes Out Regular Season at Marquette

CHICAGO - DePaul men's tennis closes out its regular season schedule on Friday when the Blue Demons travel to Milwaukee, Wisc. to take on conference rival Marquette at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.

The Blue Demons (5-15) grabbed a home win in their last outing, defeating IUPUI 6-1 on Senior Day at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness. With the victory, DePaul closed out its home schedule with a 4-1 record.

In the match, senior Mathias Hambach was honored during the break between doubles and singles and won his 10th solo contest of the season.

Junior Filip Dzanko also continued to roll at the top spot in the order, winning for the sixth time in his past seven matches as the Blue Demons swept the Jaguars in singles play. He leads the team in singles victories with a 16-11 overall record.

Scouting the Golden Eagles

Marquette (11-11) is coming off two wins at home last weekend, and is 9-3 overall on its home court. The Blue Demons dropped the last meeting to the Golden Eagles, 4-3, on April 12, 2012 but had won the six matchups prior.

Junior Dan Mamalat has been successful at the first position for the Golden Eagles, putting together a 17-5 record in dual match play and winning seven of his past 10.

Marquette also features 20-match winners in Cameron Tehrani (21-15), who plays mostly at the four spot, and Vukasin Teofanovic (20-15), who is 12-8 overall at the second position. Teofanovic is currently riding a four-match win streak.

Next Up

After closing out the regular season, DePaul will return to the courts for the 2013 BIG EAST Men's Tennis Championship hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. from Thursday, April 18 through Saturday, April, 21. Matchups and times will be announced at a later date.
