ITA All-Academic Team and Scholar Athlete Winners

CHICAGO – The DePaul men’s tennis team was one of 78 programs recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for its cumulative team GPA following the 2011-12 season.  

DePaul’s 3.554 cumulative team GPA, surpassed the awards’ minimum of 3.2 while the Blue Demons have earned the ITA team academic award in three of the last fours years.  With head coach Matt Brothers stressing academic excellence the Blue Demons improved their cumulative team GPA by .229 from year ago.

Individually George Chanturia, Mathias Hambach and Adam Reinhart were named ITA Scholar-Athletes after each recording a cumulative GPA above a 3.5.  Chanturia and Hambach are repeat winners from a year ago.

Chanturia, who will graduate after DePaul’s winter quarter with his degree in accountancy, earned DePaul’s John R. Cortelyou Awards for the highest grade-point average among male student-athletes in 2012. He was also a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in May.
