CHICAGO – After finishing the season ranked No. 67 in the Campbell’s/ITA College Tennis Rankings, the Blue Demons were one of 75 Division I men’s tennis programs honored with a All-Academic standing by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

DePaul’s 3.325 cumulative team GPA surpassed the awards’ minimum of 3.2 while the Blue Demons have earned the ITA team academic award in two of the last three years.

Individually George Chanturia, Mathias Hambach and Bartosz Jozwiak were all named ITA Scholar-Athletes after each recording a cumulative GPA above a 3.5.  All three student-athletes also earned All-BIG EAST Academic honors while Ben Hartman, Sven Kasper and Matija Palinic also joined the trio on the league’s All-Academic squad.

Chanturia, who will be a senior in 2011-12, is DePaul’s top returner after earning All-BIG EAST honors in his first season in a Blue Demon uniform.  The senior posted a 23-12 singles record while he went 22-14 on the doubles court.
