Jose Moncada Leads the Way During Day Two of the Wildcat Invitational
EVANSTON, Ill. Jose Moncada continues to be victorious as he added two more singles wins today during day two of the Wildcat Fall Invitational. Austin Doerner and Alasdair Graetz also tallied victories in singles competition.
Moncada took the first set 6-0 against Northwestern’s Andrew McCarthy, before McCarthy retired during the second set. The 2008 Most Outstanding Player for the Blue Demons went on to defeat Michael Calderone of Western Michigan 6-4, 7-6 (8). He is slated to play in the Flight A semi-final match on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Doerner recorded a victory against Austen Brooks of Michigan State in the Flight A consolation round 6-2, 6-1, after being sent there by Sven Burles of Toledo 6-3, 6-1. Registering the fourth victory of the day was Graetz, who went head-to-head against MSU’s John Stratton and won 4-6, 6-4 (16-14). Semi-Final and Finals action resumes on Sunday at 9 a.m.
