Hartman and Jozwiak Claim Doubles A Flight Title
MUNCIE, Ind. - DePaul juniors Ben Hartman and Bartosz Jozwiak claimed the doubles A flight championship at the 31st annual Ball State Fall Invitational at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Complex and the Lucina Courts on Sunday.
Heading into today's matches no one would have guessed that Hartman and Jozwiak had played just one match together this season as the doubles pair dominated day three of the tournament. The duo first defeated Mark Rutherford and Jon Schwerin from Marquette 8-6 before claiming the championship with an 8-6 victory over Albertin Dalton and Eduardo Pavia from Ball State. The championship was the first for Hartman and Jozwiak while the pair improves their all-time record to 9-4.
After a successful day in the singles C flight on Saturday, Mathias Hambach picked up were he left off and claimed the flight's championship with a pair of wins. The freshman started his day with a 7-5, 2-6, 11-9 victory over Marquette's Greg Kakar and won the championship with a dominating 6-2, 6-1 victory over Ball State's Andy Doherty.
After three days of action the Blue Demons finished the Ball State Fall Invitational with six singles and six doubles victories.
DePaul returns to the courts next week when the squad travels to Evanston for the Northwestern Invitational Oct. 2-4.
