Men's Tennis Posts Perfect Record on Day Two
LOUISVILLE, Ky. The DePaul men’s tennis team rebounded after posting a 6-7 record during day one by tallying a perfect 6-0 record on day two. Junior Alasdair Graetz advances to the Flight A Consolation Finals, while sophomore Bartosz Jozwiak is slated to play in the Flight B Consolation Semi-Finals tomorrow. After loosing a disappointing match against Doug Matthews of Xavier on Friday, Graetz regrouped and battled in two three-set matches to advance to the Flight A Consolation Finals. First to be knocked off the bracket was Filip Miljevic of Illinois State, with a score of 1-6, 7-6, 10-7. The Melbourne, Australia native then defeated Eastern Illinois’ Jordan Nestrand, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 11-9. Jozwiak also posted two victories today in the Flight B Consolation round. After decisively defeating Wade Kippley of South Dakota State, 6-0, 6-0, he went on to claim victory over Mel Segota of Eastern Kentucky, 6-0, 6-3. Jozwiak, a Warsaw, Poland native, is slated to play Richard Canelas of Xavier in the semi-final matchup tomorrow. Senior Jose Moncada, along with Graetz, improved their season doubles record to 5-1 after beating the Louisville duo of Sumit-Prakash Gupta and Viktor Maksimcuk 8-3. Tomorrow they will play in the Flight A semi-finals against Indiana’s Santiago Gruter and Stephen Vogl. Winning in Flight B doubles action was Jozwiak and sophomore Ben Hartman. The Blue Demon duo defeated Pip Rehg and Byron Wowchuk of Wright State 8-1 to advance to the semi-final round. The third and final day resumes tomorrow at 8 a.m. (CST)
