Northwestern Invitational Draws Get Acrobat Reader

CHICAGO – The DePaul men’s tennis team hits the road and makes the short trip to Evanston for the Northwestern Invitational this weekend.  The Blue Demons join student-athletes from Iowa, Marquette, Purdue, Western Michigan, Wisconsin, and host Northwestern for the three-day tournament, Oct. 15-17 at the Combe Indoor Tennis Center.

Sven Kasper, who boasts a 1-1 singles record this season, starts action off on Friday with a 10 a.m. match with Iowa’s Nikita Zotov in the A-Singles flight.  Also in the A flight -- Ben Hartman tangles with Petr Satral from Wisconsin at 1 p.m.

George Chanturia and Bartosz Jozwiak will compete in the B-singles flight, but both received a first round bye and do not begin singles action until Saturday.  Chanturia will play the winner of Jonas Dierdex (Iowa) and Marquette’s Thibault Troude at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.  Jozwiak is also scheduled to play at 9:30 a.m. against the winner of Mitch Beckert (Iowa) and Jonathan Schwein from Marquette.

Doubles action also begins on Friday. Jozwiak and Kasper team-up for a match against Iowa’s Jeroen Gartworst and Zotov at 3 p.m., while Hartman and Chanturia play Marquette’s Dan Mamalat and Schwerin at 4 p.m.

Singles flights continue through Sunday, while doubles action will conclude on Saturday.

The Blue Demons enter the weekend with an impressive 9-6  singles record while the men’s teams has combined for a 9-2 record in doubles action.
