Men's Tennis Concludes Weekend at ITA Midwest Regionals
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.- Senior George Wang posted three wins before bowing out of the main singles draw as the DePaul men’s tennis team competed at the ITA Midwest Regional over the weekend at the Baseline Tennis Center.


Wang defeated Scott Newmark of Butler (6-4, 6-1) to open the qualifier bracket then knocked off Chris Clark of Toledo (3-6, 6-2, 6-3) and Kevin Hayward of Western Michigan (2-6, 7-6, 7-5) en route to the main draw where he fell to Brady Crosby of Western Michigan (7-6, 3-6, 6-1).


Sophomore Austin Doerner also posted a pair of wins for the Blue Demons in the qualifier bracket as he defeated Alex Friesen of Northern Illinois (6-4, 3-6, 7-6) and Phil Orno of Cleveland State (7-5, 3-6, 6-1) before falling to Mark Rutherford of Marquette (6-4, 7-6).


Doerner teamed with sophomore Jose Moncada for doubles action and the pair defeated a duo from UW-Green Bay (8-6) before bowing out to a team from Western Michigan (8-4).


DePaul returns to action at the Bronco Invitational this weekend in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  The tournament, hosted by Western Michigan, runs Friday through Sunday.
