Assistant Director of Basketball Operations
One of the most decorated women's basketball players in DePaul's history -- Khara Smith joins the Blue Demon staff as an assistant director of basketball operations.
Smith, who is DePaul's only three-time All-American and three-time finalist for the John R. Wooden Award, rewrote DePaul's history books from 2002-06. She is the only player in DePaul's history to score 2,000 career points and grab 1,300 career rebounds. A first-team All-BIG EAST selection in 2005-06, Smith led the Blue Demons to four consecutive NCAA Tournaments including the program's only Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2006.
Smith is ranked in the top six in 12 of DePaul's 17 career statistical categories and holds the Blue Demons record for total games (131), career field goal percentage (.592), and rebounds (1,369). In her 131 games, Smith finished 116 (88.5 percent) in doubles figures while she grabbed 10 or more rebounds in 79 games and finished her career with 77 double-doubles.
Smith, who will assist in all aspects of the Blue Demon women's basketball program, graduated from DePaul in 2006 with a degree in Sociology. She is currently working on her Masters in Community Counseling.
Smith resides in Aurora with her son Nathaniel Marshall, who will be four on Jan. 1, 2011.
