Grays Powers DePaul Past Xavier 79-48

CHICAGO - Mart'e Grays is on a serious roll, shooting confidently from the perimeter and also getting to the backboards.
The junior forward led the way Friday night with 18 points including five 3-pointers in DePaul's 79-48 BIG EAST victory at Wintrust Arena.
Grays was backed up by Kelly Campbell's 11 points and eight boards and Amarah Coleman contributed nine. Chante Stonewall had eight points and nine rebounds while Ashton Millender and Deja Cage each scored eight.
DePaul jumped out to an early lead courtesy of Campbell's back-to-back threes followed by a long-distance connection from Coleman and a Stonewall layup.
Xavier was down 16-5 before scoring the final four points of the first quarter to trail 16-9 after the opening 10 minutes.
Back-to-back drives to the hoop by Tanita Allen and Cage made it 26-13 midway through the second quarter. The Blue Demons went into their halftime locker room leading 34-24 as Grays led all scorers with 12 points. That was her sixth-straight game in double figures.
DePaul put this one out of reach with a 16-3 run in the third quarter in building a 50-29 advantage. Millender hit pair from deep while Grays and Campbell each connected once from beyond the arc.
A couple of hustling Stonewall baskets and two Cage free throws allowed the home team to close out the third quarter leading 61-35. Vinisha Sherrod's back-to-back threes in the middle of the fourth quarter
The Blue Demons play their fourth game in eight days Sunday against Butler in a BIG EAST matchup that will tip off at 3:30 p.m. at Wintrust Arena. It will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.
