VILLANOVA, Pa. – Right from the start, nothing seemed to go right for the Blue Demons on Friday night.

Unable to recover from a slow start, DePaul could not catch Villanova in an 84-58 BIG EAST loss at the Jake Nevin Field House.

Amarah Coleman led the Blue Demons with 13 points while Kelly Campbell added 12 points and nine rebounds. Tanita Allen scored 10 points.

DePaul (14-6, 6-2) found itself trailing 11-2 at the first quarter media timeout. That foreshadowed a rough first quarter as the Blue Demons trailed 19-5 after the first 10 minutes after going 2-for-14 from the field.

After digging a 21-5 hold, DePaul clawed its way back behind a pair of three-pointers each from Campbell and Millender to come within 30-21 midway through the second quarter.

Villanova (15-4, 5-3) went on a 14-3 run to move in front 44-24. The Blue Demons went into their halftime locker room trailing 48-31. Villanova made 11-of-12 shots during their second quarter surge.

Down by 17 at halftime, the Blue Demons came within 12 early in the third quarter after a Campbell three. The Wildcats continued to match the DePaul attack and led 60-45 going into the fourth quarter.

Villanova built a 64-45 lead early in the fourth quarter and expanded it to 75-53.

The Blue Demons look to bounce back with a 1 p.m. game Sunday at Georgetown.
