SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Jasmine Penny scored 19 points and lifted No. 23/22 DePaul to a 71-59 win at Seton Hall on Saturday.

Anna Martin scored 18 points and Brittany Hrynko added 13 for the Blue Demons as they snapped a three-game skid.   Katherine Harry tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds.  It is the junior’s  second straight double-figure rebounding game.

DePaul (16-6, 4-4 BIG EAST) shot 44% (25-of-57) from the field and outscored Seton Hall (7-15, 0-8 BIG EAST) 34-22 in the paint.

After DePaul’s lead ballooned to 43-28, Seton Hall used a 23-9 run and pulled within one, 52-51 with 7:06 to play. Harry pushed DePaul’s lead back to three with an offensive rebound and put back.  Hrynko followed and drained a deep 3-pointer to give the Blue Demons a 57-51 advantage with 5:12 to play.

Terry Green, who finished 7-of-7 from the 3-point range including six in the second half, hit a triple to pull the Pirates within three (57-54) with 4:00 on the clock.

Not wanting to drop succumb to Seton Hall’s pressure, Hrynko answered on the other end with another deep and timely 3-pointer.  Hrynko’s triple started a 14-5 run in the closing minutes which sealed DePaul’s road victory.

The Blue Demons got off to a slow start, shooting just 29% (9-of-31) from the field in the first half.

Neither team was able to score until the 17:50 mark when Brittany Morris hit a 3-pointer for the Pirates.  The Blue Demons answered on the other end with a Harry layup.  

The two teams traded baskets before Penny tied the game at nine by completing the three-point-play with 13:15 in the first stanza.  The Blue Demons put together a mini 7-3 run over the next 2:05 which was capped off by a pair of free throws from Martin with 10:10 to play in the first.

DePaul ‘s largest lead of the half, 25-19 (1:42) came on a pair of Penny free throws while a Harry layup as time expired in the first sent the Blue Demons to the locker room with a 27-21 advantage.

Green tied a Walsh Gymnasium record with seven 3-pointers and led Seton Hall with 21 points. Tajay Ashmeade paced the Pirates on the glass with 11 rebounds.

The Blue Demons return to action in Lincoln Park at 8 p.m. on Jan.31 when Louisville comes to town for a BIG EAST Conference showdown.  DePaul and the Cardinals tip at 8 p.m. (CT) and the game can be seen on CBS Sports Network with Jason Knapp and Tammy Blackburn handling the announcing duties.

Notes: DePaul snapped a three-game losing streak with its win... DePaul turned 18 SHU turnovers into 20 points… DePaul now leads the all-time series with Seton Hall 7-1 and has won the last seven games including four in South Orange.
