STORRS, Conn. – A brutal travel assignment and No. 2/3 Connecticut handed DePaul a 91-44 loss on Sunday at Gampel Pavilion.

UConn (22-1, 9-1 BIG EAST) was paced by Stefanie Dolson’s 23 points and Bria Hartley’s 18 points and seven rebounds. Breanna Stewart paced the floor with nine rebounds.

The Huskies shot nearly 57 percent for the game and their intense defense held DePaul (17-7, 6-4 BIG EAST) to its fewest points of the season.

Playing in her first game since Jan. 5, Megan Rogowski paced the Blue Demons with 12 points and Megan Podkowa and Jasmine Penny each chipped in eight.  Penny also added six rebounds.

Brittany Hrynko, who entered the game leading the BIG EAST in scoring during league games, finished with three points.  The sophomore also added six rebounds and a team-high four assists.

Arriving at Gampel Pavilion at 2:10 p.m. – just an hour and twenty minutes before tip, the Blue Demons struggled to find their game.

In the opening eight minutes, DePaul was just 2-of-12 from field and both of those field goals were from behind the arc. With DePaul trying to find an offensive rhythm, UConn jumped out to a 21-6 advantage behind nine points from Dolson.

The Blue Demons were able to hit their stride over the next four minutes – connecting on 4-of-7 from the field and trailed the Huskies 21-41 with 3:46 to play.  During DePaul’s offensive spurt, Podkowa scored five of her eight first half points.

Still warming up from their long travel morning, the Blue Demons went just 10-of-33 from the field in the first 20 minutes and went to the locker room down 52-27.

UConn was paced by Dolson’s 22 points and four rebounds in the first half.  Despite the blistering cold temperatures and the blizzard like conditions the Huskies were blisteringly hot from the field and shot nearly 58 percent in the first stanza.

Connecticut continued to shoot lights out in the second half and outscored DePaul 39-17 in the final 20 minutes.

Rogowski scored DePaul’s last eight points and finished the game 5-of-10 from the field.

DePaul returns to action on Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. against Rutgers. Tuesday’s game can be seen on CBS Sports Network and has also been tagged as DePaul’s Play4Kay game.
