DePaul Falls to Mississippi State 92-71

STARKVILLE, Miss. - No matter the outcome, No. 19/19 DePaul wanted to leave it all on the Humphrey Coliseum floor Sunday afternoon.
It was a turning point in the game as No. 7 seed DePaul was outscored 23-13 in the quarter.
The Bulldogs opened the fourth quarter on an 8-0 run to build a 69-50 lead. Jessica January snapped that with a three-pointer. January hit another three to make it 74-56 with 4:52 left.
DePaul jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead after the opening tip and missed a couple opportunities for a bigger margin. Mississippi State (31-4) responded with a 7-0 burst.
The Bulldogs took a four-point lead when DePaul went on a 12-4 run in moving ahead 17-13 after a Schulte steal and layup. The home team scored the final four points of the quarter and it was tied 17-17 after the first 10 minutes.
Chante Stonewall made a big contribution off the bench when Jacqui Grant picked up her second foul. Stonewall hit a big three-pointer and also scored on a rebound. Stonewall's second from long distance tied it 26-26.
Mississippi State had gone ahead by two when Amarah Coleman converted a three-point play. Back came the Bulldogs with a four-point burst and a 32-29 advantage midway through the second quarter. Grant picked up her third foul and headed for the bench.
Tanita Allen attacked the imposing Bulldog front line and turned her driving bank shot into a three-point play to make it 32-32. Making use of its height advantage, Mississippi State worked the ball inside to move in front 38-34. Back came Allen with a three-pointer and the Blue Demons went into halftime within 38-37.

-The Blue Demons 26 rebounds to set a new season record for total rebounds.
-Coach Doug Bruno's team finished the season winning 12 of its last 15 games.
-Brooke Schulte played in her 137th game as a Blue Demon, third all-time in program history.
-The Blue Demons lead the all-time season series with Mississippi State at 4-1 and are 0-1 on the road.
