St. Thomas, USVI - DePaul senior All-American guard Anna Martin sealed the Blue Demons' 68-67 win over Hampton by hitting her second free throw with 3.9 seconds left on Friday in the second game of the Paradise Jam at the University of the Virgin Islands Fitness Center.

Hampton led by as many as 13 points with 9:36 to play in the second half, but the Blue Demons had a never-give-up attitude and clawed their way back into the game. Megan Podkowa came off the bench and sparked DePaul's offense when the freshman hit a 10-foot jumper.  On the next DePaul possession, Chanise Jenkins hit a deep triple to pull the Blue Demons within eight.

Hampton answered on the other end, but it was another Podkowa basket and Brittany Hrynko followed with her fourth triple of the game to pull DePaul within five points (61-56) with 6:50 on the clock.

The Blue Demon defense continued to stymie Hampton's offensive efforts and Nicole Hamilton turned the ball over with 3:45 to set up DePaul's dramatic comeback.

Podkowa again made her presence felt when she tip-toed the baseline for an offensive rebound before Megan Rogowski hit a jumper to pull the Blue Demons within one, 65-64 which exhilarated the Blue Demon bench.

Hampton answered on the other end with a layup, but the Blue Demons continued to make their defensive pressure felt and the Lady Pirates would not score another basket the rest of the way.

With 1:41 to play, Jasmine Penny made 1-of-2 free throws before a Hrynko rebound led to a Jenkins layup with knotted the game at 67 with 1:13 to play.

Hrynko, who led the Blue Demons on the glass and tied a career-best with nine rebounds, grabbed a Hampton miscue and found a sprinting Martin, who was fouled on the way to the basket with 3.9 second left.  Martin would miss her first attempt, but sealed the Blue Demon victory with the second.

Penny paced the Blue Demons for the third time this season with 15 points. Hrynko followed with 14 and Podkowa scored a season-high 12 points.  The freshman also added eight rebounds in 14 minutes of action.

Hampton was led by Keiara Avant's 21 points and 12 rebounds while Brielle Ward added 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Just like in DePaul's first game in the Virgin Islands, DePaul got off to a quick start - and got baskets from Jenkins, Hrynko, Penny and Martin and took an early 11-4 advantage in the opening 3:36. Hampton answered and went on an 8-2 run over the next six minutes and took a 14-13 lead on Alyssa Bennett's putback.

Playing catch-up the rest of the half, DePaul tied the game at 28 when Podkowa stepped behind the arc and fired from deep.  Trading baskets, Rogowski hit the Blue Demons' sixth triple of the half and got DePaul back within one (32-31) with 26 second left. However, a layup as time expired gave the Lady Pirates a 34-31 advantage heading into the locker room.
