SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Natalie Achonwa scored 17 points and Kayla McBride had 16 to help No. 5 Notre Dame defeat No. 25 DePaul 92-76 on Tuesday night at Purcell Pavilion.
In the first top 25 match up for the Blue Demons of the season, DePaul (3-1) was led by 18 points from reserve Megan Rogowski in the Blue Demons' first game in eight days.
Blue Demon sophomore Megan Podkowa recorded her first career double-double with a career-high 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Taya Reimer had 15 points and 14 rebounds off the bench for the Fighting Irish (5-0), who won their 28th consecutive regular-season game and 15th straight at home.
After trailing by just four points - 45-41 at the half, Notre Dame used an 18-5 run to open the second half which put the game out of reach for the Blue Demons.
Notre Dame outrebounded DePaul 58-33 and held the Blue Demons to 30 percent shooting in a dominant second half.
The Blue Demons forced Notre Dame into a season-high 22 turnovers which marked the most by the Irish since they committed 28 on Jan. 15 against Georgetown. DePaul recorded 16 steals with Podkowa recording a career-high six of those.
DePaul returns to action on Dec. 1 at Northwestern. The Blue Demons and Wildcats tip at 2 p.m. (CST) in Evanston.
