CHICAGO – Anna Martin scored 28 points and Katherine Harry grabbed a career-high 22 rebounds in the DePaul women’s basketball team’s 87-69 victory over Loyola on Tuesday at the Gentile Arena.

Martin led three Blue Demons in double-figures. The senior shot 75 percent from the field (12-of-16) and was 3-of-4 from the free throw line.  Jasmine Penny tallied 13 points and grabbed six rebounds.  Megan Rogowski finished with 12 points for DePaul (9-3), who has won its last three games.

Harry’s career-high on the glass was highlighted with 15 rebounds in the first half.  This is the senior’s second 20-rebound performance while her previous career-high was 20 which she recorded as a junior.  The Columbia, Missouri native was one off the Gentile Arena record while her 22 rebounds is the sixth-best rebounding performance in school history.

Taylor Johnson paced the Ramblers with 16 points and eight rebounds. Monica Albano and Patrice King also finished in double digits for Loyola (3-6).

DePaul shot 45.1 percent for the game, including a blistering 55.9 in the second half.

With the Blue Demons shooting lights out in the second stanza, DePaul turned a one point half-time deficit into an 18-point victory.

Loyola extended its half-time lead to 43-38 on a Lyndsey Booker 3-pointer.  A Harry free throw, a Martin layup and a Chanise Jenkins 3-pointer, gave DePaul a 44-43 advantage with 15:14 to play.  A pair of Rambler free throws put Loyola back up by one, before layup by Penny put the Blue Demons ahead for good with 13:36 to play.

The Blue Demons pushed their lead to 10 points (63-53) over the next five minutes.  DePaul sustained its double-figure lead the rest of way and went up by 21, 87-66 on Jenkins’ third triple of the game.

The first 20 minutes was a game of runs.

DePaul started the game cold and was just 1-of-8 in the opening 4:26 and Loyola jumped out to an 11-2 advantage.  The Blue Demons offense started cooking and tied the game at 11 on a Martin layup three minutes later and DePaul stretched its run to 18-0 when Penny completed the three-point play with 9:19 left in the half.

Up 20-11, the Ramblers went on an 11-2 run and knotted the game at 22 on Johnson’s layup with 5:27 remaining in the stanza.

Rogowski sparked a 7-0 Blue Demon spurt with a 3-pointer. Martin followed and took a Hrynko steal to the hoop, before Rogowski drained a 10-foot jumper for a 29-22 DePaul advantage.

Like a see-saw, the Ramblers went on a 9-0 run and went ahead 31-29 on a Monica Albano 3-pointer.  Loyola went to the locker room up 33-32.
