CHICAGO – DePaul senior forward Jasmine Penny was named to the BIG EAST Conference Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll it was announced on Monday by the league office. The senior, who was named the conference’s Player of the Week last week, has been named to the honor roll four times this season.
Penny’s accolade came after the senior eclipsed the 25-point mark in both of DePaul’s games last week. In the Blue Demons win over Xavier, Penny poured in 27 points which came on 11-of-14 shooting. She also added a season-high three blocks against the Musketeers.
At Creighton, Penny paced the Blue Demons with 26 points, while she added six rebounds, and an assist and steal.
Heading into DePaul’s games with Providence and St. John’s, Penny leads the BIG EAST with 26.5 points per game in league action. For the season, the Logansport, Ind., native leads the Blue Demons with 16.4 points and has scored at least 20 points in her last three games.
DePaul opens a two-game homestand on Wednesday by hosting Providence at McGrath-Phillips Arena. The Blue Demons and Friars tip at 7 p.m., while the game can be seen on LPTV in Chicago and nationally on Fox College Sports Atlantic. DePaul hosts St. John’s for a 4 p.m. tilt on Jan. 11. That game will also be broadcast on LPTV and Fox College Sports Pacific.
