DePaul native Chanise Jenkins earned her first career Rookie of the Week accolade

CHICAGO – DePaul guard Chanise Jenkins was named the BIG EAST Conference Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week and sophomore Brittany Hrynko was named to the conference’s Weekly Honor Roll it was announced on Monday by the league office.
Jenkins was named Freshman of the Week after averaging 11.0 points, 7.0 assists and 5.5 rebounds last week.
At RV/23 Syracuse, Jenkins tied a season-high with 14 points, added seven assists with only one turnover, grabbed four rebounds and made four 3-pointers. In the Blue Demons’ win against Providence, the Chicago native had eight points, two steals, seven assists, seven rebounds and made both of her free throw attempts.
Hrynko was named to her second Honor Roll this season after leading the Blue Demons with 18.0 points last week. The sophomore from Philadelphia added 8.0 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game in DePaul’s last two games.
This is Jenkins first career Freshman of the Week of the Honor and it marks the fifth time a Blue Demon rookie has won this honor.
Since Dec. 3, 2012 four DePaul student-athletes have been named Weekly Honor Roll, while Anna Martin was named the Player of the Week on Dec. 17.
Stefanie Dolson from Connecticut was tabbed the league’s Player of the Week.
DePaul (14-5, 3-2 BIG EAST) hit the road and plays at Cincinnati on Tuesday, Jan. 22. The Blue Demons’ clash with the Bearcats can be heard on DePaul’s BlueTube with Dave Bernhard and Patricia Babcock McGraw calling the action courtside.
