CHICAGO - DePaul guard Anna Martin was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll it was announced by the league office on Monday.
Martin helped the Blue Demons to a 1-1 record last the week. The guard scored 26 points in DePaul's one-point loss to No. 11/12 Rutgers in Piscataway. Against the Scarlet Knights, Martin added seven rebounds, three assists and one steal.
The Blue Demons returned to New Jersey and topped Seton Hall on Saturday. Martin recorded 18 points and tied a career-high with four steals.
On the week, Martin was 21-of-23 from the free throw line including a career-best 13-of-14 effort at Rutgers.
The Kentucky native ranks second in the BIG EAST with 18.6 points while her .430 (46-for-107) 3-point field goal percentage is tops in the conference. Martin also ranks in the BIG EAST in assists, 3-point field goals, assist to turnover ratio and free throw percentage.
Connecticut's Tiffany Hayes was named the league's Player of the Week. Bria Smith from Louisville earned Freshman of the Week accolades.
The weekly honor is Martin's fifth honor roll selection of the season while she was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Jan. 16.
The Blue Demons return to action in Lincoln Park at 8 p.m. on Jan.31 when No. 14/16 Louisville comes to town for a BIG EAST Conference showdown. DePaul and the Cardinals tip at 8 p.m. (CT) and the game can be seen on CBS Sports Network with Jason Knapp and Tammy Blackburn handling the announcing duties.
