Anna Martin recorded her first career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, as No. 22 DePaul (19-7, 7-5 BIG EAST) defeated its rival Marquette (13-11, 4-7 BIG EAST), 71-59.

MILWAUKEE – The DePaul women’s basketball team puts its three-game winning streak on the line when it hits the road for a BIG EAST Conference game against rival Marquette on Saturday.  The two teams tip at 7 p.m. at the Al McGuire Center, while the game will be carried live on Time Warner Sports 32 in Wisconsin.  Cami Padilla and Trish Babcock McGraw will call the action live for DePaul’s BlueTube and Gametracker is also available.  In-game scoring and notes can also be followed at www.twitter.com/DePaulWBBSID.

Saturday’s game marks the 57th all-time meeting between the two rivals.  In a series that began1978, the two schools became conference rivals in 1987 when both were members of the North Star, Great Midwest Conference, Conference USA and now the BIG EAST.  Marquette did move to the Midwestern Collegiate Conference for the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons, but the two programs still played as nonconference rivals.

DePaul has won seven of the last eight series meetings, while Marquette’s win during that stretch was a 60-53 victory on its home court in 2011.  The Blue Demons own a 35-21 series advantage while the Golden Eagles are 15-10 in games played in Milwaukee.

DePaul (16-5, 5-2) enters Saturday’s showdown in a three-way tie for fourth place in the BIG EAST.  The Blue Demons’ 5-2 league record matches that of Syracuse and Villanova – both of whom beat DePaul on their home court.

The Blue Demons are coming off an exciting 57-55 win over Pittsburgh on Jan. 29 and were led by Brittany Hrynko’s 19 points.  The sophomore guard is averaging 19.1 points per game in conference play which ranks third.  Against the BIG EAST, Hrynko ranks second in assists (5.6), third in 3-pointers (2.9), fifth in total minutes (35.6), eighth in defensive rebounds (4.7), 13th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.1), 15th in 3-point field goal percentage (.323).

Katherine Harry is also putting up some impressive numbers on the glass.  The senior from Columbia, Missouri, leads the BIG EAST with 11.4 rebounds in league games.  She heads into Saturday’s game as the active career rebounder and needs 26 boards to move into the top 20 all-time in the BIG EAST.

Marquette (10-10, 2-5 BIG EAST) is looking to snaps its three-game skid and is coming off a 72-54 loss to Rutgers on Jan. 30.  The Golden Eagles are averaging 65.6 points per game this season and are paced by Katherine Plouffe’s 13.2.  Plouffe also paces Marquette in rebounding (8.0), assists (2.8) and field goal percentage.

Following Saturday’s game, the Blue Demons return to Lincoln Park to host Seton Hall.  The clash between the Pirates and DePaul is scheduled to tip at 7 p.m. at McGrath-Phillips Arena.
