DePaul's Long-Range Shooting Too Much for Creighton
The Blue Demons' accuracy from deep leads to 82-54 BIG EAST victory Wednesday night in Omaha, Neb.

CHICAGO – After a huge win over Marquette last Monday that resulted in a tie for first place in the BIG EAST, DePaul (16-6, 8-2) will need a repeat performance on Friday night against a dangerous Creighton team (13-8, 7-4) that is tied for third place with Villanova.

The conference showdown that tips at 7 p.m. at McGrath-Phillips Arena will be televised by NBC Sports Chicago with Dave Bernhard and Patricia Babcock McGraw on the call. It will also be shown on the BIG EAST Digital Network which can be accessed at foxsportsgo.com.

The Blue Demons snapped a four-game losing streak to Marquette with their trademark balanced attack featuring six players that scored in double figures in the 95-83 victory at McGrath-Phillips Arena. It was the eighth game this season in which six Blue Demons finished in double figures.

Coach Doug Bruno’s team has reached double figures from beyond the arc seven games in a row and lead the country in three-pointers. DePaul made 11 from long distance against the Golden Eagles as Kelly Campbell connected three times from deep on the way to a career-high 20 points.

Ashton Millender leads the BIG EAST in threes and is No. 20 in the nation, connecting on 41 percent of her shots (66-of-161).

In addition to leading the country in three-point shooting, the Blue Demons are No. 1 in three-pointers per game and three-point attempts, No. 5 in assists per game and assist-turnover ratio and No. 9 in scoring offense.

Kelly Campbell is No. 3 in NCAA Division I in assist-turnover ratio and No. 19 in assists. Lauren Prochaska is No. 25 in assist-turnover ratio.

The 5-foot, 10-inch Campbell also has 114 rebounds in her last 11 games and leads the Blue Demons in rebounding, assists, steals, field goal and free throw percentage. Mart'e Grays is the leading scorer at 14.4 points per game followed by Millender (13.6.), Amarah Coleman (12.3), Campbell (11.1), Chante Stonewall and Tanita Allen (10).

Coach Doug Bruno comes into Monday night’s game needing three more wins for 700 in his iconic Hall of Fame career.

Creighton features a dangerous quartet of three-point shooters in Audrey Faber, Jalyn Agnew, Sydney Lamberty and Olivia Elger. They have combined to connect on 146 attempts from beyond the arc with an accuracy rate of nearly 40 percent.

In an 82-64 victory Jan. 10 at Creighton, DePaul defenders clamped down on the Bluejay foursome and limited them to 5-of-17 shooting (23 percent) from deep.

In contrast, the Blue Demons shot 54 percent from long distance (14-of-26) including 10-of-13 to open the game. They also had their best defensive period in the third quarter, outscoring Creighton 18-5.
