CHICAGO - The DePaul women's basketball puts is 11-game McGrath-Phillips Arena winning streak on the line when Seton Hall visits Lincoln Park for a 7 p.m. BIG EAST Conference clash on Wednesday. The ninth series meeting between the two programs will be carried on DePaul's BlueTube with Cami Padilla and Patricia Babcock McGraw calling the action courtside. DePaul and Seton Hall are meeting for the eighth time in as many years with the Blue Demons winning the last seven contests. DePaul is 3-1 all-time against Seton Hall in games played in Chicago, while the Pirates lone series win came in 1999. Seton Hall grabbed a 76-69 overtime victory from the Blue Demons in the opening game of the DePaul Invitational.
Last season, Jasmine Penny scored 19 points and lifted the Blue Demons to a 71-59 win over the Pirates in South Orange. Anna Martin added 18 points and Brittany Hrynko scored 13 for the Blue Demons. Seton Hall was paced by Terry Green's 21 points - all of which came from behind the 3-point arc.
DePaul (16-6, 5-3) is looking to bounce back from its 70-66 loss at Marquette on Feb. 2. The Blue Demons have won three of their last five games while both their losses have been by four points and on the road.
Led by Brittany Hrynko's 21.1 points in BIG EAST games, DePaul is averaging 69.4 points in league contests. Hrynko is coming off a career-high 35 points at Marquette on Feb. 2. The sophomore's career night came on 12-of-28 shooting, which included a 7-of-15 effort from behind the arc. On the season, Hrynko's 2.95 triples per game ranks 16th in Division I.
Hrynko has 65 3-pointers this season which leads the BIG EAST and ranks 10th all-time in DePaul's single-season record book.
On the year, the Blue Demons have combined for 163 3-pointers and rank third in the league with 7.4 triples per game. DePaul tallied a season-best, 13 3-pointers against Oral Roberts and at Syracuse.
After opening BIG EAST play with two wins, Seton Hall (8-13, 3-5 BIG EAST) has dropped five of its last six games. The Pirates lone win during the stretch came against Rutgers on Jan. 27. Seton Hall defeated the Scarlet Knights 45-42 and snapped a 12-game losing streak to Rutgers.
Seton Hall is averaging 53.9 points per game and is led by Brittany Morris' 12.4 and Ka-Deidre Simmons' 11.0 points.
Following DePaul's game with Seton Hall, the Blue Demons hit the road and play at No. 3/2 Connecticut on Feb. 10. DePaul and the Huskies hit the hardwood at 2:30 p.m. while the game will be carried on ESPNU with Bob Picozzi and Brooke Weisbrod calling the action courtside.
