Khara Smith Named C-USA Player of the Week
CHICAGO – DePaul sophomore Khara Smith was named Conference USA Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Blue Demons to a pair of wins over the weekend against Saint Louis and Memphis. She shares the honor with Houston’s Chandi Jones who DePaul plays on Friday night.
Smith averaged 29.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in the two victories while shooting .765 from the field. She opened the weekend with 32 points and nine rebounds on 14-of-16 shooting from the field against Saint Louis. On Sunday, Smith registered her 17th double-double of the season with 27 points and 14 boards.
This week marks the fourth time this season that Smith has earned league player of the week honors. The Blue Demons and Cougars tangle on Friday night in a first-place showdown in Conference USA. Both teams stand in first place with identical 10-1 records. The game can be heard live at www.depaulbluedemons.com with the pre-game show starting at 6:40 p.m. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
