Jenni Dant Named C-USA Player of the Week
CHICAGO – DePaul senior Jenni Dant picked up her second Conference USA Player of the Week honor following a career-high 29 points against Marquette on Sunday afternoon. She led the Blue Demons to their 13th straight C-USA victory, setting a new league record. She shared the honor with USF’s Jessica Dickson.
Dant led the Blue Demons to the 2005 Conference USA regular season title as well as the No. 1 seed in the upcoming C-USA Women's Basketball Tournament. Dant receives her second weekly accolade as the senior was named the first 2005 C-USA Player of the Week recipient on Nov. 22, following her MVP honors in the Moran Realty Classic.
She extended her flawless free throw streak to 18 consecutive with a perfect 6-for-6 against Marquette on Feb. 27 in a 77-56 victory. Against the Golden Eagles, Dant matched a career-high 29 points, while hitting a career-best five three-pointers. The five treys gave her 101 on her career, making Dant the ninth player in school history with at least 100 three-pointers.
The Blue Demons, who hold the country's second-longest home-winning streak with 23 straight victories in the DePaul Athletic Center, enter the conference tournament trying to become the second straight team to win the regular season and tournament titles in the same season. The squad will play the winner of eighth-seeded East Carolina and ninth-seeded Memphis at 1 p.m. (EST) on Friday.
It is also the second time in her career that Dant has been named the C-USA Player of the Week.
