CHICAGO – DePaul junior guard Anna Martin was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll it was announced on Tuesday by the league office.
Martin earned her a spot on her eighth honor roll this season by averaging 24.0 points in DePaul’s three games. The junior scored a career-high 36 points in DePaul’s win over Cincinnati on Monday, while junior scored 18 points against Syracuse and at Louisville. Martin’s 36 points was the most by a BIG EAST player in league games this season.
For the week, Martin shot .509 (27-of-53) from the field including a 15-19 effort against the Bearcats. She was 12-of-13 from the free throw line while she added 11 rebounds, nine assists and three steals. The Kentucky native averaged 37 minutes per contest while she played 39 minutes against Syracuse.
This season, Martin was honored in eight of the 15 honor rolls while she was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Jan. 16. Her 19.0 points per game ranks second in the league while her .410 (59-of-144) average from 3-point range ranks fourth.
Notre Dame’s Skylar Diggins was named the conference’s Player of the Week and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis was the Freshman of the Week.
The No. 23 Blue Demons earned a No. 8 seed in the BIG EAST Championship and received a bye into the second round. DePaul (21-9, 9-7 BIG EAST) will play either No. 16-seeded Pittsburgh or ninth-seeded USF on Mar. 3 at 1 p.m. (CT). Saturday’s second round game will be carried on the BIG EAST Network as well as ESPN3.com and BIGEAST.tv.
