CHICAGO – DePaul junior guard Anna Martin was one of two unanimous first-team All-BIG EAST Conference performers it was announced on Thursday by the league office.  Fellow junior Katherine Harry was an honorable mention all-BIG EAST selection and Brittany Hrynko was a unanimous all-freshman team honoree.  Deanna Ortiz earned the league’s Sportsmanship Award; marking the second consecutive season that award has gone to a DePaul student-athlete.

Martin earned all-conference honors for the first time in her career after averaging 19.0 points per game which ranks second in the league.  The Kentucky native was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week once while earning a spot on the weekly honor roll in eight of the 15 weeks.

On the season, Martin paced DePaul (21-9, 9-7 BIG EAST) in scoring in 18 games while reaching double figures in 27 of the Blue Demons’ 30 games.  The junior enters the BIG EAST Championship after scoring a career-high 36 points in DePaul’s win over Cincinnati.  Her 36 points were the most by a BIG EAST player in league games while it was the second-best scoring output by any league player this season.  Martin leads the Blue Demons in free throw percentage (.809), 3-pointers (59), 3-point field goal percentage (.410) and minutes (32.7).  She is second on the team in assists (97) and steals (50).

Harry’s rebounding ability landed her a spot on the honorable mention list.  The junior leads the BIG EAST in rebounding with 9.7 boards per game while she is second with 10.9 rebounds in BIG EAST Conference games.  The Missouri native has paced DePaul 22 times in rebounding while she leads the team with 41 blocks.

Hrynko’s capacity to run DePaul’s offense while leading the team with 56 steals put her on the all-freshman team.  The Philadelphia native ranked fourth in BIG EAST games with 4.5 assists while she dished out a season-high nine at Notre Dame.  On the season Hrynko averaged 3.8 assists which ranked ninth in the league.  Hrynko is the third Blue Demon to earn all-freshman team honors and follows Keisha Hampton as a unanimous selection.

Ortiz became the second consecutive and third overall to earn the league’s Sportsmanship Award.  Ortiz shared the honor with St. John’s Da’Shena Stevens.

The Blue Demons’ team captain, Ortiz was elected by her fellow student-athletes as the President of Captains’ Council, which serves as an advisory board and also coordinates service projects for all student-athletes.  She has volunteered for numerous organizations including  --  Misericordia Candy Days, St. Vincent DePaul Feed the Homeless Sandwich Drive, Sheffield Garden Walk and St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen.  The senior was invited to try out for the Puerto Rican Women’s National Team and leaves for San Juan in April. After DePaul lost five players to injury, Ortiz stepped into a more prominent role, starting 24 of DePaul’s 30 games, including the last 18.
