The Blue Demons top St. John's on Wednesday, 69-52 in the BIG EAST Conference opener for both teams. Keisha Hampton paced the floor with 21 points and Katherine Harry grabbed 10 rebounds. DePaul hosts SIU-Edwardsville on Friday at 7 p.m.

QUEENS, N.Y. – The DePaul women’s basketball team closes out the regular season portion of it schedule at St. John’s on Monday at 7 p.m. at Carnesecca Arena. The Blue Demons and Red Storm clash will be broadcast on ESPN3 and the Watch ESPN app with Ralph Bednarczyk and Julianne Viani calling the action.

With just one game left in the regular season, the BIG EAST Conference standings are jumbled at the top.  DePaul is fighting to finish as high as fifth place while a win for the Red Storm could catapult St. John’s into fourth.   With seven teams in action on Monday, the BIG EAST Championship bracket will be announced once every game has gone final.

DePaul and St. John’s are meeting for the ninth time since 2006 while the Blue Demons lead the overall series 6-2 and have won the last three games dating back to 2011.  DePaul is 2-1 in games played at Carnesecca, with St. John’s last win coming on their home court in 2007.

DePaul (20-9, 9-6 BIG EAST) reached the 20-win mark for the 21st time with its win 81-73 victory over Pittsburgh on Saturday.  Five players reached double-digits in the victory, while Jasmine Penny paced the Blue Demons with 16 points. 

On the season, Penny is averaging 13.3 points while Anna Martin leads the team with 15.8.  Brittany Hrynko rounds out DePaul’s double-digit scorers with 15.2 points and has reached double-figures in 23 games this year. 

In BIG EAST Conference games, Hyrnko’s 16.5 scoring average ranks sixth in the league while the sophomore’s 2.7 3-pointers per game ranks fourth.

Heading into the final BIG EAST regular season game, Katherine Harry is leading the conference with 10.9 rebounds per game which is 1.4 more than any other player in the league.  The senior has grabbed 560 rebounds in BIG EAST games which is the ninth most in the conference’s history.

St. John’s (16-11, 10-5 BIG EAST) is coming off a 60-51 loss at Seton Hall on Saturday.  The Red Storm have won six of their last seven games and is 9-4 at Carnesecca this season.  Shenneika Smith paces St. John’s with 16.3 points, and Nadirah McKenith follows with 13.5.  McKenith leads the BIG EAST with 6.1 assists while the Red Storm average just 11.9 assists per game.

DePaul has received a bye into the second round of the BIG EAST Championship and will play its first game at the XL Center on Sat., March 9.
