HARTFORD, Conn. – The DePaul women's basketball team begins its BIG EAST Conference Championship journey on Mar. 9 at the XL Center. The Blue Demons, who earned a No. 7 seed in the conference championship and play tenth-seeded Marquette at 6 p.m. (ET). Saturday's game will be televised on the BIG EAST Network with Bob Picozzi and LaChina Robinson calling the action. The game will also be carried on ESPN3 and BIGEAST.tv.

The Blue Demons (20-10, 9-7 BIG EAST) are making their eighth BIG EAST Championship appearance. DePaul is 7-7 all-time in BIG EAST Championship games while the 2005-06 and 2010-11 teams reached the semifinals.
DePaul played in its first conference tournament as a member of the North Star Conference in 1989 -- and has reached the league's tournament in every season since. The Blue Demons, who have been members of the North Star, Great Midwest, Conference USA and now the BIG EAST, boast a 27-20 league championship record and have won four conference tournament titles.
Marquette reached the Second Round of the BIG EAST Championship by defeating Pittsburgh – 66-43 on Friday.
DePaul and Marquette met on Feb. 2 in Milwaukee with the Golden Eagles taking the game, 70-66. The Blue Demons were without Anna Martin, while Brittany Hrynko scored a career-high 35 points in the loss.
Saturday’s meeting is the 58th meeting between the two teams and the Blue Demons lead the overall series 35-22. This is the eighth conference tournament meeting between the two teams and DePaul is 4-3 in those games, including 2-0 record in BIG EAST Championship games.
Prior to the BIG EAST Championship beginning Blue Demons student-athletes Anna Martin, Brittany Hrynko, Katherine Harry and Chanise Jenkins all received postseason honors. Martin was named the American Eagle Scholar-Athlete of the Year, earned the Conference’s Sportsmanship Award and was named to the BIG EAST second team. Hrynko was a first-team all-conference selection and also shared Most-Improved honors with Connecticut’s Kelly Faris. Katherine Harry earned a spot on the second team with Martin and Jenkin’s was part of the 10-person all-freshman team
