HARTFORD, Conn. -- The DePaul women’s basketball team reached the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Championship and will take on second-seeded Connecticut on Sunday at 6 p.m. (ET).  Sunday’s game can be seen live on the BIG EAST Network with Bob Picozzi and LaChina Robinson calling the action courtside.  Cami Padilla will handle the announcing duties for DePaul’s BlueTube, while in-game scoring and notes can be followed at www.twitter.com/DePaulWBBSID.

The seventh-seeded Blue Demons (21-10) reached the quarterfinals with their 77-69 win over 10th-seeded Marquette on Saturday.  Anna Martin paced DePaul with 24 points. Martin has scored 20-plus points in 26 career games. The second-team all-BIG EAST Conference performer has reached the double-digits in each of her four games since returning to action after missing five-plus weeks with a knee injury.

On the season, Martin is averaging 16.0 points while Brittany Hrynko is adding 15.2 and Jasmine Penny chips in 13.1 points per game.  The Blue Demons have six players averaging eight or more points per game and recording 71.6 points per outing.

The Huskies (27-3) are the second seed in the tournament and are playing in their first game of the Championship after receiving a bye into the quarterfinals. UConn is coming off a 96-87 triple overtime loss at the Notre Dame on Mar. 4.

Connecticut leads the Division I (thru Mar. 7) in scoring with 82.8 points per game with Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis leading the team with 17.9 points per outing.  Stefanie Dolson is averaging 14.3 points and is second in the country with her .596 field goal percentage.

DePaul and UConn are meeting for the 12th time while the Huskies have won the last ten series games. Connecticut is 2-0 in BIG EAST Championship games including a 2008 meeting in the quarterfinals. The Blue Demons' lone series win came in 1983 at the Dial Classic in Minneapolis, Minn.

Earlier this season, UConn defeated the Blue Demons, 91-44 on Feb. 10 in Storrs.  DePaul was without Martin and traveled to Connecticut on the day of the game after the blizzard "Nemo" pounded the area with an excess of two feet of snow.

The winner of quarterfinals game will face either Syracuse or Villanova in the semifinals on Monday at 8 p.m. (ET).
